Matagorda: Matagorda Community Monthly Paddle- St. Mary's
Community monthly paddle meetup to explore waterways in Matagorda, Texas. Bring your own kayak or SUP, life jacket, fishing poles & license (if you want to fish), night lights (if you want to stay out past dark), plenty of water, sunscreen & bugspray and your friends & family! If you're bringing your own boat no need to sign up as this is an open & free event, just be ready to launch at 6:30pm.
If you don't have your own boat you can rent one from MAC for $10 off the regular half-day rental rate. Use the ticket link in the invite to reserve a boat at the discounted rate.
St. Mary’s Bayou is a large marsh area. You can spend all day exploring here. This is a great site for birding & fishing. When the winds are high, this is a good site to paddle as there is some protection from the wind. Take a GPS as it is easy to get lost in the maze of bayous.
From Matagorda head south on FM 2031 across the bridge. The trailhead is on the east side of the road just past Snapper’s Restaurant and Bar.
